Memo: To the Hill’s

Re: 80th Hill Reunion

Dear Folks...
The historic 80th Hill Reunion held on August 21 brought together 40 enthusiastic descendants of Isaac and Abraham for the first time. Because it rained all morning in Caton we decided to hold the gathering in the fellowship hall of the nearby United Methodist Church. Many informative announcements were shared; among them: the oldest attendee was Paul F. Hill (76); youngest, Dalton Smith (21/2); those traveling the greatest distance, Charles Gregory and his daughter Grace from Illinois. Two births and two deaths were recorded; no marriages during the past year.

The decision to meet at the church made it possible to have space for all sorts of exhibits: from Denny’s laptop computer to Ginger’s photo album to Paul’s genealogical materials. We want to encourage the sharing of family news and information throughout the coming year. To this end, John E. Hill is establishing a Hill Family website. Go to "www.bearprint.net/hillreunion" to check it out. He needs birth dates of current generations, missing names and/or dates of our ancestors, corrections, etc.

For several years John has served as our "official" Reunion photographer. Because he was unable to attend this year, none of us thought to take a group picture. However, I noticed many individuals were taking photos all afternoon. If you’d be willing to share these with John, he would greatly appreciate it. His mailing address is:

On behalf of the Reunion, I want to thank Cathy and Corey Smith for their donation of the hamburgers; Daniel Jenkins and his kitchen crew for preparing the hot dogs and hamburgers; John Hill and Benita Parks for printing and mailing the Reunion announcement leaflets we all received in June; Paul Hill for the materials he prepared for distribution; and to all who brought such delicious food to share and who made our family gathering such a success by your smiling presence.

The date for next year’s Reunion is Saturday, August 20, 2005 in Caton, NY. As soon as you get a new calendar, mark the date. I would welcome any suggestions you have to make next year’s 81st Hill Reunion even more memorable,
